Is Open Source GIS right for your organization? LunaGeo’s 4-Step Process to Open Source GIS Migration
Tuesday, June 11, 2024
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST
At LunaGeo, we know that a successful migration to open source GIS takes a lot of thought and work. Our approach can be broken down into a four step process.
- Evaluate the current GIS, which involves reviewing data holdings, data management practices, data governance policies, user groups, workflows, and software usage and requirements.
- Plan the migration so that current workflows and systems are either replicated or (ideally) improved in the new GIS.
- Implement the plan by configuring all the components of the new GIS.
- Support the newly deployed GIS by troubleshooting day-to-day issues and through a comprehensive training program.
Webinar participants considering such a migration will understand (a) the types of questions that need to be asked, (b) the information that needs to be gathered from the current GIS, (c) the components of a good migration plan, and (d) the types of support typically required in an enterprise environment, especially early in the adoption period. The goal of this webinar is to empower participants to evaluate their current GIS so they can make an informed decision when considering a migration to open source GIS.
